Champions teaches kids martial arts in age-grouped classes, starting with a Little Tigers program for the youngest students and continuing through kids, teen and adult classes. Students work on kicks, forms and self-defense while building focus, and the school also offers after-school care, summer camp and a competition team.
A Hell's Kitchen karate dojo teaching traditional Renshin-Kai karate, including kata competition training. It offers a school pickup program that brings kids to the dojo after school.
Families can rent bikes at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park and ride the flat, car-free Hudson River Greenway, which runs from Battery Place up past West 59th Street. It is an easy way for kids to get riding practice with river views.
A large Upper West Side climbing gym with bouldering, auto-belay walls and a fitness area. Kids 12 and under can climb during set daytime hours, and the gym runs summer and school-vacation climbing programs.
NYRR's free youth program gets kids running through school and community partner sites across the five boroughs, plus kids' races throughout the year. It focuses on fitness, confidence and having fun while moving.
A five-court hard-court tennis club in Midtown West that runs a full junior ladder, from red-ball camps for beginners through junior development and high-performance training. Kids can also take private lessons, play junior tournaments and join seasonal day camps.
