Tony Dapolito Recreation Center in West Village offers both an indoor pool and a summer outdoor pool plus a diving pool. Families can swim indoors all year with a Parks membership and use the free outdoor pool in summer. NYC Parks also runs kids' swim instruction here.

A small, shallow neighborhood pool at Vesuvio Playground in SoHo, good for younger kids cooling off in summer. Entry is free and no reservation is needed; bring a padlock for the lockers.
A swim school with a warm 4-lane pool kept around 88–90 degrees, offering baby classes, parent-and-me, group and private lessons, intensives, drop-ins and a competitive squad. Kids can start as young as 8 weeks.
British Swim School holds lessons at this Tribeca pool, starting with babies as young as 3 months. Kids move from water acclimation to survival skills like floating and rolling over, then on to stroke development; adaptive classes are offered too.
