A Brooklyn children's drama studio where young kids act out stories, play theater games and build confidence through pretend play. This Atlantic Avenue studio hosts classes, school-holiday camps, summer camps and theater birthday parties with themes like pirates and fairies.
A Brooklyn youth theater program where small casts of up to 12 kids rehearse and stage fully produced shows, from musicals to Shakespeare. Teaching artists hold MFAs and Off-Broadway credits, and groups are organized in narrow grade bands.
Smith Street Stage performs free Shakespeare in Carroll Park each summer, now in its eleventh season, aiming the shows at audiences of all ages. Families bring blankets and watch classic plays in a neighborhood park.
BAM's family program brings circus, theater and film to kids at its Fort Greene campus, including the BAMkids Film Festival of international shorts sorted by age. Seasonal events include the BAMboo! The Stella Adler Studio's youth program uses 'organized play' to introduce preteens to the Adler acting technique through scene study, improv and technique classes. Classes meet on Saturdays in fall, winter and spring sessions at the studio's Financial District home.
