Children build games and projects in Scratch, Minecraft and Roblox before moving on to text-based languages like Python and JavaScript, plus robotics and 3D printing. Small classes give each student plenty of instructor attention.
Neurodiverse kids and teens learn coding, digital design and media skills in structured Sunday workshops, tech socials and summer weeklong programs. Older students can move into internships and career-ladder programs building professional tech skills.
Middle and high schoolers take hands-on programs in areas like Arduino electronics, cybersecurity, sustainable city engineering, game design and machine learning, run by NYU's engineering school in Downtown Brooklyn. The flagship ARISE program places high schoolers in university research labs for ten summer weeks.
Children learn to program by building their own video games, advancing through a belt system similar to martial arts as they master new concepts. Younger kids start in a no-reading-required JR track, while older kids move into game design with real coding languages.
Kids use Minecraft, Roblox and game engines as a gateway to coding, then branch into stop-motion, cinematography, CAD, robotics and electronics in project-based lessons. The studio runs weekly summer camps, seasonal after-school lessons and workshops on school days off.
Kids complete short, leveled math and reading worksheets each day and visit the center on scheduled days to work under instructor guidance and get graded feedback. Because each child progresses by mastery rather than grade, the program works for young beginners and advanced students alike.
