No. CityParks Jesse Owens Track & Field at Thomas Jefferson Park is outdoors, so plan for weather, sunscreen and water.
A nonprofit offering free Goju karate classes to children 6 and up, teens and adults at community sites in Upper Manhattan including the Johnson Community Center in East Harlem. Kids learn karate basics, discipline and fitness at no cost.
A neighborhood branch of the Champions taekwondo network, with separate classes for preschoolers (Little Tigers), school-age kids and teens. Children practice kicks, forms and self-defense while working on focus and discipline, and the branch also runs after-school pickup, summer camp and a competition team.
A 5,000-seat world-class track and field stadium on Randall's Island with a certified 400-meter track and a FIFA-certified soccer field next door. The park alliance runs free youth sports programs here, including the Jesse Owens track club and summer camps.
A large tennis complex on Randall's Island home to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, with junior programs from red and orange ball beginners to high-performance training. Kids get year-round court time under indoor bubbles and outdoors.
An East Harlem school running since 2005 that teaches children from age 3 through the teen years. Kids train in a blended karate style plus Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and there is an after-school program as well as Muay Thai for older students.
A Harlem youth enrichment program that combines squash coaching with tutoring, mentoring, community service and college preparation. Young people ages 11 and up train on the courts and get long-term academic support.
