Current calendar offerings for kids include Storytime, Spanish Storytime, Kids Create and Friday Slimeday. A Spanish-language story time runs alongside the English sessions.

The children's area at Leonard Library stocks board books, picture books and chapter books for Williamsburg kids, with computers and table space for after-school reading and homework. Programs for young children and school-age kids have included Story Play, Jump Dance and Wiggle, Babies and Books and Toddler Storytime. Access is partial: there is a ramp entrance on Leonard Street.
Bushwick Library is the Bushwick branch of Brooklyn Public Library, with a children's collection and regular early-literacy programs when the building is in service. Right now the building is closed (closed for renovations beginning June 2026, about two years; staff run neighborhood programs and Bookmobile visits), so families should use nearby branches or the mobile/pop-up services in the meantime.

The rebuilt branch doubles as an environmental education center with indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and it opens Sunday afternoons.
