Champions teaches kids martial arts in age-grouped classes, starting with a Little Tigers program for the youngest students and continuing through kids, teen and adult classes. Students work on kicks, forms and self-defense while building focus, and the school also offers after-school care, summer camp and a competition team.
A twelve-court clay tennis club on Roosevelt Island offering junior programming from red-ball beginners up to high-performance players. Children can take private or group lessons, enter junior tournaments and attend day or tennis camps.
A renovated island recreation center just south of the tram plaza with a gym, aquatics center, fitness classes and rec room. Children 12 and under can get a free monthly membership, and day passes for under-18s are $15.
