A nonprofit that pairs competitive rowing with academic support, running youth programs from the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse on the Harlem River in Inwood. Middle and high schoolers can join with no rowing experience.

A neighborhood branch of the Champions taekwondo network, with separate classes for preschoolers (Little Tigers), school-age kids and teens. Children practice kicks, forms and self-defense while working on focus and discipline, and the branch also runs after-school pickup, summer camp and a competition team.
A Washington Heights martial arts space offering group classes and private lessons for children as well as adults. Students of every skill level can try it out with a free trial class.
Manhattan's northernmost park has baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, and kayak and canoe launches along with forest trails. Uptown youth leagues play here and families can use the courts for free.
Part of the Team USA martial arts group in the Bronx, which teaches karate, taekwondo, MMA and boxing to students from toddler age up. Children build coordination and confidence through belt-based classes, and the group also offers after-school and summer camp programs.
An 11-acre Fordham park between Jerome and Creston Avenues with tennis courts, basketball and handball courts, a synthetic turf field and a recreation center. Kids can play pickup games or use the courts.
