A compost farm on Governors Island where visitors meet goats and chickens, see how food scraps become soil and wander herb and vegetable plots. Weekend open hours run through the warm season.
Coney Island's aquarium features sharks, sea turtles, sea lions and penguins, including the Ocean Wonders: Sharks! building and live sea lion shows at the Aquatheater. Admission includes a 4-D theater film.
An open-air amphitheater show at the New York Aquarium where sea lions demonstrate natural behaviors with their trainers while kids cheer from the stands.
