British Swim School holds lessons at this Hell's Kitchen pool, starting with babies as young as 3 months. Kids move from water acclimation to survival skills like floating and rolling over, then on to stroke development; adaptive classes are offered too.
Splash Fit runs after-school and weekend kids swim classes in John Jay College's 25-yard pool, from beginner to advanced and team prep. Older kids can try out for the CA Stingrays competitive team for ages 6-18.
Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center in Lincoln Square has an indoor pool inside a Parks recreation center. Kids can join family swim periods and seasonal Learn to Swim classes run by NYC Parks. Swimmers need a Parks recreation center membership, which is free for youth.
