Yes. NYC FIRST STEM Center @ Washington Heights is indoors, so it works on rainy or cold days.
Teens drop in to use 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers and electronics gear, get hands-on help with robotics team builds, and join workshops in coding, fabrication and engineering. Membership is free and grants walk-in access during open hours.
High schoolers with a strong interest in science spend Saturday mornings on Columbia's campus taking college-level courses in subjects across the sciences, math and engineering taught by university scientists. The program runs through the academic year.
LEGO-based STEM classes where children build machines and learn engineering and coding. Classes are grouped by age: early builders 4-6, engineering and robo-brick classes 6-11, and robotics for 12-15, plus camps and birthday parties.
Kids design objects for 3D printing, wire up circuits and sensors, program robots and run hands-on chemistry and physics experiments. The studio runs after-school classes plus flexible camps on school days off where families can register day by day.
An application-based program where middle schoolers learn wooden boat carpentry with hand and power tools, go sailing on the Bronx River and do hands-on environmental science. It also prepares students for the group's high school programs.
Motivated students take small after-school and weekend classes in advanced math problem solving, along with language arts, science and computer science. The focus is on deep conceptual understanding and collaborative problem-solving rather than memorization, and two-week summer camps are offered.
