Kids are grouped by age: Tiny Tigers (3-5) work on motor skills and listening, Youth Karate (6-8) builds focus and coordination, and Junior (9-12) and Teen (13-16) students learn kata, sparring and belt progression, with teens also taking on leadership and competition.

A long-running Upper West Side nonprofit league where kids from preschool age through high school play recreational or travel soccer. Younger players start in an intro 'Playground' program, while older kids can move into tournament, travel and academy teams coached with a New York Red Bulls curriculum.
Champions teaches kids martial arts in age-grouped classes, starting with a Little Tigers program for the youngest students and continuing through kids, teen and adult classes. Students work on kicks, forms and self-defense while building focus, and the school also offers after-school care, summer camp and a competition team.
Children as young as 2 through teens learn karate blended with yoga, breathing exercises and mindfulness. Both small group sessions and 30-40 minute private lessons are offered, and instruction is adapted for kids with ADHD, autism and other special needs.
A family activity center where babies, toddlers and preschoolers take gym, music and art classes, with camps and birthday parties on offer. Classes build motor skills and social confidence through play.
Free two-hour Learn to Ride classes where kids 5 and up ditch the training wheels and learn to balance, pedal and brake on two wheels, with tweens and teens classes from age 10. Lessons take place in Riverside Park just south of the bike and pedestrian ramp.
Riverside Park hosts six soccer fields and multiple baseball diamonds between 71st and 107th Streets, plus basketball and volleyball courts. Many Upper West Side youth leagues play here, and families can use them informally when not permitted.
