A downtown ballet academy offering after-school and weekend ballet in small classes, emphasizing alignment and creative expression. Classes meet at several Lower Manhattan studios, and new students can try a class.
Peridance's youth program near Union Square offers ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, tap, tumbling and contemporary from 18 months. The center has taught dance in NYC since 1983.
Year-round tap classes for children and teens run by the nonprofit behind the Tap City festival. Advanced young dancers can audition for the Tap City Youth Ensemble, which learns classic and contemporary choreography and performs around the city.
