One of the country's longest-running ensemble theaters, based in a converted church hall in Fort Greene, runs youth programs including The Theatre of Empathy, which uses improv and theater games to build communication skills. It also offers a free booklet of improv games families can play at home.

A Fort Greene community music school with an On Stage youth program in theatre and musical theatre, where kids sing, act and perform. It sits in the BAM Cultural District, and the school also teaches instruments and voice.
BAM's family program brings circus, theater and film to kids at its Fort Greene campus, including the BAMkids Film Festival of international shorts sorted by age. Seasonal events include the BAMboo! Halloween party with carnival games and crafts, and a holiday circus with multi-abled performers in December 2026.
Treasure Trunk's Park Slope studio on 4th Avenue offers drama classes where preschoolers and young kids tell stories through movement and make-believe. Older kids can join summer musical intensives and a fall musical production.
Treasure Trunk Theatre's Prospect Heights studio on Washington Avenue runs storytelling-based drama classes and camps for preschool and early elementary kids. It's close to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden.
Kids take small-group acting, singing and audition classes, from recreational beginners to young performers aiming at professional work. Park Slope classes run on Tuesday afternoons, split by age group.
Kids from first grade through high school rehearse and perform full musical productions in after-school MainStage classes, with Saturday classes and summer camp too.
