British Swim School holds lessons at this Midtown East pool, starting with babies as young as 3 months. Kids move from water acclimation to survival skills like floating and rolling over, then on to stroke development; adaptive classes are offered too.
The Vanderbilt YMCA in Turtle Bay runs YMCA swim lessons in its indoor pool, from parent-and-child water play for babies and toddlers to preschool classes for ages 3–5 and stroke-building levels for school-age kids and teens. Families can also use scheduled family swim times.
Penguin City Swim teaches small-group, semi-private and private swim lessons from water babies (6 months) up through adults. Kids progress through skill levels in short 30- or 45-minute classes, with semesters that follow the NYC public school calendar.
Constance Baker Motley Recreation Center in Midtown East has an indoor pool inside a Parks recreation center. Kids can join family swim periods and seasonal Learn to Swim classes run by NYC Parks. Swimmers need a Parks recreation center membership, which is free for youth.
SwimJim runs year-round learn-to-swim lessons in a warm indoor pool, starting with parent-and-baby classes and progressing through levels to confident independent swimmers. Families enroll on a monthly basis in group or private lessons.
The West Side Y has two indoor pools used for youth swim lessons, family swim and lap swim. Lessons run in seasonal sessions for kids of different ages and skill levels.
