The children's section of the Central Park Zoo, where kids can get close to goats, sheep, and other gentle animals and explore climbable play features. It is included with regular Central Park Zoo admission.
A compost farm on Governors Island where visitors meet goats and chickens, see how food scraps become soil and wander herb and vegetable plots. Weekend open hours run through the warm season.
A zoo in Flushing Meadows Corona Park focused on animals of the Americas, such as Andean bears, sea lions, pumas and bison, plus a domestic-animal area. It is small enough to see everything in a morning.
A walk-through aviary at the Queens Zoo, housed in a dome originally built for the 1964 World's Fair, where kids follow a path through treetops filled with birds of the Americas.
